Welcome to the Palace Theater Summer "Theatrical School"
Dear Parents,
You will notice that our selections for this summer invite the beginner theater student while offering challenges for our returning young actors. Each selection is designed to offer the best developmental theatrical opportunity for all ages and levels of acting experience in our student population. This summer our school is offering opportunities for the 7 to 9 years old theater student (we will have to ask that these students have finished first grade due to the required reading and social skill levels). The 10 to 12 year old theatrical students, and a series of different opportunites for our teen actors(ages 13 to 17).

| 7/14-7/26 | Featuring "The Unity Tree" Session #3
A very timely musical for all seasons, this addresses exactly what many acting/music teachers have requested: how much we all need love, understanding and acceptance.A prominent tree with a large, vertical stripe right down the middle forms a distinct boundary between Catville and Dogburg. Alas, more than just the tree separates these two villages. Longstanding prejudice and intolerance dwell there, too. A new kitten and puppy discover each other before they find "their own kind," and form a quick friendship because they are ignorant of the way things are "supposed to be." In the end, the newly decorated Unity Tree has blurred boundaries and now they stand together, united. Wonderful songs, great developement choreography, many parts for our acting students. The students will also design and help create the wonderful costumes for the inhabitants of Catville and Dogburg. |

wns is an energetic, fast-paced musical about a troupe of young clowns who someday hope to be professionals in their trade. The story is one of singing and dancing, laughing and crying, searching and finding—the very elements of life itself. The audience joins up with the clowns as they begin the quest of finding out one of the secrets of life. After looking for the secret in tangible things, they are shown that the searching must take place in the heart and that the search isn’t limited to one day, but goes on tomorrow with new secrets to be found. This script is beautifully written with wonderful moments.
g Jim Hawkins longs for adventure and finds it in this classic tale of pirates, pigaloos and buried treasure. This adaptation features an expanded script and eight original songs - ideal for middle school performers(ages 10-12) who can handle a 55 minute musical production. This musical is for those students who wish to develope their acting as well as their singing and dancing skills. A wonderful step up to a more dramatic production!
a loving home in the city of London, Dalmatian parents, Pongo and Perdita happily raise their Dalmatian puppies, until the monstrous Cruella De Vil plots to steal them for her new fur coat! Join all the dogs of London, as they daringly rescue the puppies from Cruella and her bumbling henchmen. With a delightfully fun score, lovable characters, and one of the most deliciously evil villains in the Disney canon, this stage adaptation is certain to charm and delight all our students as well as our parent audience! This Disney musical is adapted specifically for our age group (10 to 12 years old) with great songs and choreograpyhy and a truly delightful script with acting roles for many of our students.
Grounded in historical fact, the plot reveals the struggles of immigrant children left to fend for themselves on the streets of New York in the early 1900's. The challenges they faced in work and play are all recalled here with whimsy, drama and pathos. Many of these children ended up with midwestern families who were seeking children to love and raise as their own. Performances of the Castaways will develope the students awareness of those who have struggled to survive during the harsh times. The music and choreography are wonderful tools to strengthen the students performance skills.
Due to a lack of funds, James P. Pennypacker (a shady accountant) announces that he'll have to shut down "The Best Little Theater in Town." That's when the theater's owner, Mrs. Goodman, popular director Cecille Deville, and the tightly-knit cast go into action! Two narrators pave the way as they discuss the elements of a classic musical theater production in this fun-filled "play within a play." The students will love being a part of this story as this small town theater company struggles to make ends meet. There's plenty of drama, and more than enough comedy in this fabulous theatrical score and entertaining book. This is a really fun filled show which will challenge and develop our students!
infused score. With excellent parts for strong singers and wonderful choral numbers side by side we can engage all levels of student actors. The music is filled with toe tapping numbers that will envigorate the audience as the students "strut their stuff" to this wonderfully crafted version of the 1920's flapper meeting the new age work force. A true example of a real broadway show with large staged show numbers and smaller solo or duet numbers the let the students experience the developmental elements of a actual broadway musical!
